In this weeks podcast we get to hear from our very own Downtown Los Angeles Campus Pastor, David Turner! We’re continuing in the series titled “I Love My Church” and he’s diving us into an incredible word on unity!

As we grow deeper into community there are going to be more and more opportunities to become offended with our brothers and sisters. That’s what we can expect when we lower our walls, and start to be vulnerable. The enemy will try over an over again to bait us with offense. But there are a few tools we can use to combat this tactic! We must start with an unoffendable heart, because offense is a choice! Never give up, quitting affects not only you but those around you. Walk with integrity, because in the kingdom success is equated with obedience, and delayed obedience is disobedience! Trust in God with all our heart. And yield through submission, seeing the fruit in our lives will only come once we submit.

The Bible tells us that brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city. The spirit of offense goes way beyond the surface. It breeds anxiety, stress, depression, loneliness, anger, betrayal, and hatred but we have hope in knowing God is our defender, and the healer of our hearts. We are called to do life together, let’s do everything we can to resist the bait of Satan, and run full force chasing the beauty of unity with the body of Christ!

As we continue to walk this season with God, God sets appointments for us to prepare us and to mold us. Pastor Christy Johnson preaches a brilliant message on The Appointment with Disappointment. 

On Psalms 30:1, God’s word gives us joy and assurance when we face challenges. No matter what we are facing, there are expiration dates to the season that we are in.

On this day, we make a bold declaration with our lead pastor, Jeremy Johnson! Today, we take COURAGE! This year, we will not just “be safe,” we will also be courageous!

There is no doubt that this last year has been hard and we had to take precautions, but we have to acknowledge that with every situation comes a spirit. With COVID came the spirit of fear. COVID made us fear for a “good reason.” But our pastor challenges us to no longer live in fear but to take courage.

But no, Jesus instead paid our debt. For every sin we would ever commit. For every sleepless night we would have. For every broken heart and tear shed, He paid for it. Our debt to sin has been paid. Past, present, and future. Now we have the opportunity to come to him, broken and sinful, so Jesus can make us clean. It is finished!

Some people seem to be gifted with optimism and good works. However, Jesus did not die to simply build a do-gooder club. We often hold on to trash instead of taking the treasure God has waiting for us. It can be hard to let go of your pain and past. God wants us to live life abundantly in the complete victory He won for us at the cross. Perfection is not enough. There is something better for each of us. Now is the time to move forward, leaving the heartbreaks of the past behind us. Jesus is waiting for you to receive all the gifts He has saved up for you. In this weeks podcast our very own Pastor Jeremy Johnson continues in the series “The Good Life”. We’re contributing on the message from last week where we dove into the thinking habits that can ruin or keep us from living the good life!

Not only can sin be a dead weight to us, dragging us down everywhere we go, but our thinking can do just the same thing! When we’re stuck in negative stinking thinking, we might as well be bound to that! Sometimes we can filter everything in our lives through negativity, so no matter what comes to us, good or bad, somehow we find the negative in it! That negativity and those walls come from past hurts and past trauma. The only way to rid ourselves of the negative filters we have on life is through forgiveness. Forgiveness isn’t saying that what happened wasn’t real, it’s choosing to let go of the hurt and choosing not to carry it into other areas of your life!

There are so many ways that our thinking can rob us of living the good life. If you struggle with this war on your mind, take heart in knowing that you’re not alone! We must choose freedom in our minds every day! We pray that this message gives you the tools to navigate through the moments that these thoughts take over. We’re only one thought away from living the good life!

Jesus came as a ransom for us. Jesus, the most valuable treasure in all the universe considered us the joy set before him. The Lord wants to prune us of the parts of ourselves that don’t bear fruit (fruits of the spirit). He will even prune us of the parts that do bear fruit, because he wants to give us MORE! Hindsight is 20/20, we often look at things from our past and we can now see why God allowed us to go through things, it’s because there is more ahead of us!

Allow God to be the gardener of your life this year. Invite Him in to prune the good and the bad, so that He can bless you abundantly more! It’s in those moments of pruning that we grow closer to Him, only if we lean on Him.

It’s the first Sunday of the year, and we are running into 2021 full of faith with a Daniel Fast starting Monday, January 11th. We know now more than ever how important it is to remove distractions and give God all of our attention, and this Daniel fast will give us room to do just that!

In this weeks message, titled “Views”, our Lead Pastor Jeremy Johnson dives deeper into what a Daniel Fast actually is, and the blessings that come out of it! Fasting is climbing the mountain, which isn’t necessarily fun, if we’re honest it’s exhausting.
